The Grateful Dead Marathon is Live
Grateful Dead Hour radio personality David Gans will host KPFA’s annual Grateful Dead marathon from 9 AM-1AM PST today, February 4. North California’s KPFA 94.1 FM will broadcast the marathon on terrestrial radio while kpfa.org, gdradio.net and nugs.net while stream the marathon online. Captain Clearlight will also host a live chat room throughout the day.
As for the event’s offerings, Gans promises:
Lots of rare recordings from the archive; some unreleased Jerry Garcia Band recordings; Bonnie Simmons’ January 1976 KSAN interview with Jerry Garcia; a live performance by the David Nelson Band all the way from Hawaii; The Fall Risk live in the KPFA performance studio; and surprises still to be determined. We’ll have a commemorative t-shirt designed and produced by Papa Lindsey with the image on this page. Among our thank-you gifts: Live from Berkeley, volume 2, an exclusive compilation of live performances from the KPFA studios.
